- Linda Jones Memorial Award (poster and oral presentation):
Students must be in a land reclamation related program, including but not limited to agriculture, biology, botany, environmental science, environmental studies, engineering, forestry, geography, land reclamation, landscape architecture, mining, plant science, soil science at a post secondary Canadian educational institution. It is not a prerequisite to be a CLRA member for a student to receive an award. Students may be in an undergraduate program, or a graduate program (MSc, PhD). The recipients must accept the award in person at the CLRA/ACRSD Annual Meeting for the year in which the award is presented. See CLRA website to get the application form (link). Student Awards: Every year the Manitoba
Soil Science Society sponsors awards for the best student presentations (oral
and poster) given at the annual meeting. A panel of volunteer judges organized
by members of the MSSS Executive selects the winners based on the quality and
presentation of the research.
- Student Social/Trivia Night: This is a time to wind down in a relaxing atmosphere and network with students from other Universities. The event will be held on Tuesday, June 16 (evening). Venue and time will be announced soon.
- Graduate Students Early Career Q/A Session: This lunch-hour event on June 17 will include a panel discussion with Q/A that focuses on various aspects of career opportunities in land reclamation and soil science industry fields as well as government jobs and academia.
- Hotel Room-sharing Program: Hotel accommodation can be quite expensive for students. Thus, hotel room-sharing program will pair students from different Universities so that accommodation cost can be shared. Please email [email protected] preference (e.g. gender)
- CLRA members should contact Anne Naeth or Andy Etmanski regarding travel funds available for students presenting their research
